The Salle Pleyel is one of the many famous and prestigious concert venues in Paris since its inauguration in 1927. Stravinsky, Otto Klemperer, Louis Armstrong, Ravi Shankar, Sviatoslav Richter, and many others have performed there! Renowned for its acoustics, the Salle Pleyel is now owned by the City of Music and the place of residence of the Orchestre de Paris. It offers nightly special concerts and can accommodate more than 1,900 spectators.
This is the only auditorium built specifically for symphonic music in Paris. Other orchestral concerts are taking place at la salle Olivier-Messiaen and the Salle Gaveau, smaller, or at the theater of the Champs Élysées and the one in Châtelet.
